Job description
Protein quality and quantity are not only important factors for crop yield, but also for the production of pharmaceuticals in plants and are directly affected by protein folding capacity of a cell. In developing seeds the protein secretion capacity of cells is pushed to a maximum to accommodate efficient deposition of seed storage proteins. Therefore, this storage organ is an excellent target for ectopic protein production. In this project funded by NWO-ALW, molecular genetic techniques (eQTL mapping) will be used on a RIL population of Arabidopsis to identify regulatory factors for seed protein accumulation, in particular those related to protein folding aspects.
Requirements
University Graduate
Candidate has an MSc in (plant) molecular genetics or molecular biology and has affinity to transcriptomics data processing. The candidate has excellent experimental skills, proficiency in English (both oral and written) and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.

Additional information about the job:
The candidate will be employed by the Laboratory of Plant Physiology and will work in an enthusiastic team of researchers. The Laboratory of Plant Physiology focuses on understanding the functioning of the whole plant, with an emphasis on the translation of knowledge at the cell- and molecular level to the integration of this knowledge at the whole-plant level. The research program aims at understanding as to how plants respond to environmental cues, including the adaptation to abiotic stresses and the co-existence with other organisms.
The Laboratory of Plant Physiology is part of the Plant Sciences Group of Wageningen University and Researchcentre.
