BIOINFORMATICIAN / STATISTICIAN

The Gene Center Munich (Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Germany) is a leading research center in structural biochemistry. The computational biology unit is seeking a PhD candidate who develops and applies models that provide insights into the mechanisms of transcriptional regulation of the cell. This is done in a large joint effort with other research groups of the institute.

The position involves both methodological research as well as the bioinformatics analysis of genome wide datasets (e.g. RNA Microarrays, ChIP on chip-data). The ideal applicant should have a university degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, statistics or bioinformatics. Experience in the analysis of large datasets as well as programming skills are advantageous. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential. An initial contract of 3 years (TV-L E13/2) will be awarded to the successful candidate. The deadline for applications is September 30, candidates must already be authorized to work in the EU.
