PhD Researcher Tilburg University, Faculty of Law

Tilburg, 5000 LE, (Noord-Brabant), 38 hours per week Tilburg University, Faculty of Law

Job description
PhD Researcher European Private Law
Over the last decades, law has become increasingly independent of national states: under the influence of Europeanisation and globalisation, law is no longer necessarily tied to national legislatures and courts. At the new Tilburg Institute of Comparative and Transnational Law (Ticom), we expect this development to raise enormous challenges for future research. Our approach is to practice legal science in an international way, also in the classical areas of law. This approach offers excellent opportunities for adventurous students wishing to write a PhD thesis in law. This PhD project will be in the field of European private law. The exact topic is to be decided upon in cooperation with the supervisor and is dependent on the interests of the candidate. Ticom invites excellent candidates to submit a motivation letter, a CV and a short (one page) description of your ideas on the topic you want to write about. The research project should lead to a PhD-thesis within four years, as well as to publications in international journals.

Requirements

University Graduate
The successful candidate must be a highly motivated person with excellent grades and with a university degree in law. He or she has strong analytical and writing skills. The candidate should be fluent in English, both orally and in writing, and also be willing to write the PhD thesis in English. He or she is also willing to participate actively in Ticom’s academic community
