Applications are invited for an EPSRC postdoctoral position to work with Dr Karin Erdmann on a project entitled Hecke algebras and self-injective algebras: varieties of modules and applications. The appointment will be tenable for 1 year. The starting date is 1 October 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The appointee will have a PhD in representation theory and should be familiar with some aspects of the representation theory of Hecke algebras and other self-injective algebras. A good background in homological algebra would be also be desirable.

If the committee are able to identify several suitable candidates then selection will be based on the assessment, by the appointment committee of the scientist(s) best able to contribute to research in this area. They will base this assessment on all the evidence they have available - including letters of reference and the publications of the candidates.
